I started Stephens Insight Group because I got tired of watching executives write big checks to big-name consulting firms — and get expensive slide decks in return.

You’ve seen it. The framework-heavy presentation. The green-field recommendations that assume you’re starting from scratch. The implementation plan that falls apart the moment it meets real organizational complexity. And then the firm is gone, and you’re left holding a beautiful deck that nobody knows how to execute.

That’s not consulting. That’s expensive theater.

I spent nearly 20 years inside organizations — as an executive, not a consultant — watching what actually works when you’re trying to develop leaders, shift culture, and build strategy in the real world. Not in a case study. Not in a green-field scenario. In a messy, complex organization with real people and real constraints.

When I founded SIG, I built the firm I always wished existed. One that embeds with your team, speaks plainly, and produces outcomes you can actually execute. No dependency. No shelfware. No pretending the hard stuff is simple.

Background

I hold a Doctor of Health Administration (DHA) and have spent two decades leading in healthcare and organizational settings. My work sits at the intersection of leadership development, organizational strategy, culture change, and data-informed decision-making.

Outside of work, I live in Hastings, Michigan with my wife Rachel — we’ve been married since 2004 — and our four kids. When I write here, I’m thinking out loud about leadership, organizations, and what it actually takes to make things better.
